Little Regular Things

From the rising of the sun to its going down
The Lord’s name is to be praised.

__Psalm 113:3 (NKJV)

What if sunrises were like Harley’s Comet and only occurred every 75-79 years?

They’d be a pretty big deal, huh?

“There is nothing that God hath established in the constant course of Nature, and which therefore is done every day, but would seem a miracle, and exercise our admiration, if it were done but once.”

John Donne

What if you only got to eat “once in a blue moon” (when two full moons fall within the same month), which occurs around every 2.5 years.

What if your chance of getting a paycheck was the same as winning the lottery? (The odds in any lottery are about one in 300 million.)

Assuming you’re not a college student, what if your bed linens were not changed but once a semester?

What if you only got clean socks and underwear once one a year?

What if gas stations were only opened on Mondays? And grocery stores on Tuesday?

Little things.

Little regular things.

Little regular things we take for granted.

Little regular things done by people who we take for granted.

Little regular things that are really big things but because they happen so regularly they become common.

The ONE THING for today: Gratitude for the little regular things and the people who do them paves the way for living a rarified and fulfilling life.

Try saying “thank you” a lot more today to the people who make little regular things happen for you.
